    I've noticed that a lot of our non-steam players are using terrible modded clients that are prone to spam advertisements. A bad client can induce lag, and drop your fps by quite a bit. The best non-steam client availalbe currently is Lonesomes Client, which is available for download (free of course) at mv-squad.net/counter-strike.rar
